Report of the Prempeh.org 10th Anniversary Fun Fair - Part II

Monday, December 11, 2006

... continued from here

Kunta, a member of the Prempeh Class of 2006, knew exactly how to let the crowd respond to the songs. He started with a song he has composed for "Amanadehyee" and then went on to produce some "freestyles." The room was so much alive.

Kunta rocked the crowd
Stone, the Prempeh Entertainment Prefect of 2001 who gave meaning to entertainment during his days at Prempeh College took over the microphone. It was astonishing to know that the current students of Prempeh know Stone more than their current entertainment prefects. As soon as he took the microphone, the audience bellowed,"who's got the mic right now." This was how Stone useed to bring the crowd to its feet during his days at Sofoline. He was really dumbfounded as he held the microphone. Stone also sang a song for Prempeh College which goes like, "se wo se wo ko Prempeh yi wo green shirt" literally means,"if you are really a Prempeh student, show your green shirt."

Out of the blue entered the man of the moment, the man who has taken the radiowaves by storm and the man who knows no boundaries when it comes to Drive Time on radio. Spinash Freeman is the man. DJ Spinash of FOX FM was made to control the console as soon as he got to the Assembly hall by his contemporary, DJ Premiere of FOCUS FM also in Kumasi. Love was brewing in the air. Spinash thrilled the audience with some instrumentals of the Bradez before the songs followed.

The rehearsed dance of the trio was really luscious. A lot of people joined by dancing as well while some of the students moved to the stage to dance with the Bradez. Songs like, "One gallon" and "Mate Ahwe Wo Do Mu" brought so much festivity in the Osae Assembly hall. In fact, if the wooden floor had mouth, it would have implored the students to spare it some life. Okyeame Quami after the performance said, he had wished to be an Amanfoo but could not make it so urged his brothers to make it to Prempeh for his sake. He was very merry that his brothers have made it through Prempeh so shares a lot of the traditions of the college.

Despite the transportation problems suffered by Lord Kenya, he was able to arrive at the campus of Sofoline and entranced the whole place. As it is characteristic of him, Lord Kenya, the rap heavyweight champion made the crowd feel the show with his dance styles and charismatic moves. Kenya is undoubtedly one of the best in Ghana. The students who thought the hiplife star wouldn't make it were by themselves with joy after beholding him.

The programme came to end after a dance competition between Pearson and Opoku Ware house with Pearson coming first.

It was amazing to see so many journalists rushing to the stage after each artist's performance, to conduct an interview for the evening radio shows. Okyeame Kwame was bombarded with questions as to why he left the group Okyeame. Interestingly, most of the onrushing interviewers were members of the uninvited press.

The happiest day of our life

When the program finally ended, we came to the realisation that the whole campus was in darkness because there had been a loss of power for a long period of time. Were it not for our foresight in bringing our own (rented) backup generator, our pogram would have been unsuccessful.

This day will forever be remembered by all the student body and the people in Oseikrom. The journalists and presenters present have more to say after the day. The students praised prempeh.org for the occasion and wished they could have these programmes once every year.
